Magic of Concrete

Concrete is a weird and wonderful material, and while it’s not for everyone, we believe its raw character and beauty needs to be embraced, not masked. In a world of pristine, cookie-cutter designs and gleaming, sterile finishes, concrete adds a raw, earthy touch to your space that is warm, durable, and unique.

All of our products are hand crafted from natural ingredients and therefore lend themselves to the natural aesthetic qualities of concrete, what we like to describe as perfect imperfections!

There’s a myriad of contributing factors which cause the variations in the finished product starting with the natural raw ingredients through to the climatic conditions in which the piece is cast and cured. These variations in colour and texture, along with some natural imperfections such as air bubbles, add to the charm and unique style of concrete and what has undoubtedly led to the rise in its popularity. These characteristics have no bearing on the structural integrity of the product, more ensure that it’s unique in character and that no two pieces are ever identical.

Like freckles on your face – each piece is a one-of-a-kind expression of the beauty of concrete. While it is impossible to recreate the exact same finish across two different products, there are common features you can expect to see and cherish within our creations.

Air Bubbles / Pin Holes - Air bubbles can get trapped in the concrete during the casting process, leading to the formation of holes on the surface. These holes are random in nature, varying in size and quantity. It is completely normal for a product to have air bubbles, as well as tiny air pockets known as pinholes along the product's edge and exterior. The interior of our baths and basins are filled to ensure a smooth surface suitable for everyday use, while air bubbles and pinholes on the exterior are left untouched. It is impossible to guarantee a specific level or pattern of air bubbles and pinholes. They should not be considered as product defects, but rather as contributing to the overall aesthetic appeal and character of our products.

Surface Variation - No two products will ever be exactly the same and due to the nature of concrete, Surface variation refers to the natural irregularities and differences in texture, color, and pattern found on the surface of the finished product. These variations occur during the manufacturing and finishing processes of the concrete and it's important to note that surface variation is a characteristic of concrete and should not be confused with imperfections or defects. These variations contribute to the natural beauty and uniqueness of concrete, and they provide a distinct aesthetic appeal, making each piece, one-of-a-kind, with its own individual charm.

Exposed Fibres - In some cases, the fibres may be visible on the surface of the concrete after the finishing process. This is not a structural defect as the fibres add strength to reinforce our products.

Casting Flow Lines - Casting Flow Lines occur when concrete is poured in a fluid state. These flow lines are anticipated and are more common on larger concrete products that are poured in multiple batches. They are regarded as an inherent characteristic
